Steven A. Camarota, director of research at the Center of Immigration Studies, points out that the money saved by hiring illegal immigrants results in less expensive products for consumers (Camarota para. 18). Even though hiring illegal immigrants is against the law in the United States, their acceptance of low pay also allows employers to hire more people. To put this into perspective, if an illegal immigrant makes two-thirds of what an American worker makes, then an employer could have three people working for the same amount as two. The increase in productivity is benefical for the company.
